It’s Bubbling in my Soul

imageIf you hang around the things of God long enough, you will witness these pure moments of joy. 😊 These moments lift your spirit and help you finish the race strong.  The race that God has set before you. (Hebrews 12:1)This happen to me this morning while substituting in 3rd & 4th grade Sunday school.

Before we begin class a sweet dear friend of mine that is not only ahead of me in years but also in spiritual maturity comes and sings older songs and hymns with the 1-4 graders. She also throws in other fun things like, singing the books of the bible. I am so glad she didn’t call on me to sing the books of the bible. 😉 She does this with such love and enthusiasm, no wonder it is a time in which my 8 year old son does not want to miss.

I witnessed these kiddos  and myself singing and believing the words to, I am a Promise and It’s Bubbling in my Soul and I myself could not wait to race home and Google these songs:

I am a Promise

I am a promise
I am a possibility
I am a promise with a capital “P”
I am a great big bundle of potentiality
And I am learnin’ to hear God’s voice
And I am tryin’ to make the right choice
I am a promise to be anything God wants me to be.

It’s Bubbling in my Soul

It’s bubbling, It’s bubbling,
It’s bubbling in my soul.
There’s singing, and laughing,
Since Jesus made me whole.
Folks don’t understand it, Nor can I keep it quiet
It’s bubbling, bubbling, bubbling, bubbling,
Bubbling, day and night.

What powerful and encouraging words for us today!

Just a few nuggets of truth that I took away from substituting today:

~ I am a promise to be anything God wants me to be! 😊

~ It is so good for my soul to hang out with the younger generation and the older generation. The younger generation increases my faith by being fearless and pure and the older generation increases my faith with wisdom and experience.

~ Never stop hanging around the things of God. Maybe teaching children’s Sunday school is not your calling but I encourage you to hang around the different ministries in your church and watch God do only the work He can do. It’s a beautiful thing to watch. ❤️

~ I thank God for these treasured people that pour into my kids lives. You are making a difference!

And all this leads me to end with, it’s bubbling, it’s bubbling, it’s bubbling in my soul. There’s singing and laughing since Jesus made me whole!!!

Fresh Beginnings

“When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen.  When you come looking for me, you’ll find me.  Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.  I’ll turn things around for you. I’ll bring you back from all the countries into which I drove you, bring you home to the place from which I sent you off into exile.  You can count on it.  Jeremiah 29: 12-14 MSG

God had a plan to do new things in their hearts.  This is part of a message from the Lord to all the people exiled to Babylon.  This got me to wondering what new things does God have to do in our hearts?  Thinking of God doing new things in my heart is exciting because I do desire to grow closer to Him.  In order to grow closer to the Lord, do we have to open ourselves up to Him doing new things in our heart?  I think so, or we would just stay right where we are at.  I don’t think many of us want to stay where we are at right now in our spiritual lives.

But for Him to do these new things He had some instructions.  He said call upon me, come and pray, and seek me with all of your heart (or as the message translation says, get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else).  Jeremiah 29:14 led me to Deuteronomy 30:1-10.  Many years before Moses had told their ancestors something similar.

For the Lord will again take delight in prospering you, as he took delight in your fathers, when (here’s our part) you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep his commandments and his statues that are written in this Book of the Law, when you turn to the Lord your God with all of your heart and with all your soul.  Deuteronomy 30:9-10

So these two places I have landed in the Old Testament, do they apply to you and I today?  I believe Yes, that’s why the Lord wrote them down for us. 🙂  No matter how far we have wandered (just like the Israelites had wandered), God promises fresh beginnings if only we will turn to Him.

Just as God had plans of new beginnings for the people exiled to Babylon that Jeremiah was speaking to, He will do new things in our heart too when we get serious about finding Him and want Him more than anything else.

So, yes I do have goals of eating fewer carbs, less sugar and putting my phone down more this year but I am most excited about seeking the Lord with all of my heart and seeing the new things He will do in my heart.

God, thank you for not leaving us where we are at right now.  I pray that we call upon You, that we want You more than anything else and that we allow You to do new things in our hearts. ❤️
